CHOW MEIN & JELLO
In this article, the author speaks about all-you-can-eat buffets; the positives and the negatives. I created an image about the extravagance and huge amount of food involved in buffets. This will highlight the enjoyment of buffets as well as the food waste due to the massive amount of food on the table. The subtle photos of receipts in the background link to the section in the article speaking about how people love to get a bargain.
GUILTY SECRET
This illustration is to accompany an article on the toxic diet culture and the unnecessary negativity that surrounds fast food / ‘bad’ food. The illustration focuses on the wrappers, rather than the food itself, because it is usually only after indulging that we feel the overwhelming sense of guilt. The wrappers have been rendered in happy, saturated and uplifting colours to show how they aren’t bad, in sensible quantities, and how it is okay to treat yourself.
PARIS, STILL THE BEST PLACE ON EARTH
I think that people watching is quite possibly what makes Paris the best place on earth. The people make it so special. My illustration includes the view of strangers going about their lives. For me personally, looking at the outfits and fashion is a big part of Paris and so my illustration showed this. I focussed on creating a dreamlike, warm and saturated effect by playing with light and shadow.
